The Riviera Maya has so much to offer for a destination wedding!
The beautiful Turquoise Ocean and white sand beaches make the perfect venue for a wedding, but we shouldn’t forget the Mayan jungle and its mysterious Cenotes.
The word Cenote comes from the mayan “tz-onot” which basically means water hole or abysm . Cenotes were very important for the Mayans, because it was their main fresh water source. Mayans also believed that Cenotes were the “passage” or connection with the “underworld” .

Cenotes were also important ceremonial sites, Mayans believed that Chaak the good of water inhabited those sites. Mayans would bring offerings to ask the god for rain during drought periods.
No wonder why Cenotes are so powerful, so much mystery and magic. When you swim in a Cenote you definitely feel this spiritual connection, with life , water, and we even dare to say that you will feel renewed spiritually, mentally and physically.

Cenotes are becoming more and more popular amongst the Riviera Maya brides, some brides are moving the ceremony from the beach – to a cenote ceremony with a Xaman!! , more and more brides are taking the plunge and doing TTD (trash the dress ) shootings at the Cenotes.
After the wedding day, what better way than going to a Cenote for a dip to capture the beginning of this new life chapter – the beginning of married life and the end of being single. Let Chaak the god of water guide your new path and bless the marriage to be a very fruitful and prosperous one, lust like the Mayan jungle!
