Wedding Beauty Tips for Destination Brides

Your bridal beauty booking is just as important as selecting your dress. In this guide, we’ll answer key questions about booking wedding beauty services, the option of a trial, and how to choose a look that makes you feel like a stunning destination bride.

How far in advance should I book my bridal beauty services?

As the first wedding beauty tip, I would highly recommend booking your bridal beauty services as early as possible, preferably 6 to 12 months before your destination wedding day.

Many wedding makeup artists and hairstylists in Mexico often get booked quickly, especially during peak season.

Early booking ensures you secure your preferred artist and gives you ample time to plan your look and make any necessary adjustments. If you’re planning a destination wedding in the Cancun or Tulum area or, if you are getting married during a particularly busy season ( November to May), booking even earlier might be necessary.

Don’t forget to consider your bridal party too …

Is a bridal beauty trial worth it?

Not everybody requires a trial, but we highly recommend considering one, especially for destination weddings. It might be your only chance to meet your hair or makeup artist, fine-tune details and feel their vibe.

A bridal beauty trial, allows you to try your desired makeup and hairstyle, and see if it matches your vision. During the trial, you and your artist can do some modifications, adjust colors, and find the perfect style that compliments your dress, accessories, and overall wedding theme.

Where to Get Ready: Your Bridal Beauty Options

There are several options here :

If you want to get ready at your resort: Our hair and make-up artist(s) will happily come to you but please check in advance with the hotel if any restrictions, day passes or vendor fees apply.

If you’d like to get ready at your venue: Some destination wedding venues (like Blue Venado in Playa del Carmen), have a bridal suite you can rent to enjoy with your favorite people and get ready before the event starts.

Last but not least, an off-site option: You can always rent an Airbnb for the day for you and your bridal party or ask our office to check availability with our salon partners (a very convenient option). Please contact us for more information.

How do I choose my destination bridal look?

We recommend creating a wedding hair and makeup mood board for your professional hair and makeup artist. This will help your beauty team get to know you better. When meeting in person, have a collection of photos that visually represent your desired look making communication a lot easier.

Choosing your bridal look is a personal and exciting part of wedding planning. Don’t forget to Consider Your Dress, the features you wish to highlight, and colors and styles that flatter your complexion and hair type.

Browse bridal magazines, Instagram, and Pinterest for looks that resonate with you. Create a mood board of makeup styles and hairstyles you love.

Share your ideas with your Mexico Makeup Artist and Hairstylist during your consultation and trial. Their expertise will help you refine your vision, suggesting looks that compliment your features and align with your overall aesthetic.

And the most important advice is “Stay True to Yourself”! While it’s fun to experiment, make sure your bridal look feels like you. Whether you prefer bold and glamorous or soft and romantic, choose a style that makes YOU feel confident and beautiful.

Remember, your bridal look should be a reflection of your personality and style, making you feel like the best version of yourself on your wedding day.
