Place your wedding veil like a pro!

POV: You’ve chosen the perfect hairstyle! It frames your face beautifully and complements the silhouette and style of your wedding dress… But, have you figured out how to place your veil depending on your hairstyle?

Your wedding veil is the finishing touch to your bridal look. Make sure you style it like a pro!

Placing your wedding veil with a Half-Updo

Ideally, your hairstylist will want to secure the veil into the half-up section of your hairstyle. The crown of your head is the perfect spot for this because it offers the most support.

Why? This area usually gets the most teasing or bobby pins, creating a strong foundation for the veil’s comb to grip onto.

Now, for brides planning a destination wedding with a veil reveal, the best placement is at the apex – the highest point on your head.

Securing your wedding veil with your hair Fully Down

Planning to rock gorgeous, cascading waves for your Cancun wedding? We’ve got you covered on the veil front too!

Since loose hair doesn’t offer the same structure as an updo, we recommend placing the veil slightly lower than the crown of your head, just above it. This position allows us to secure the veil’s comb with extra bobby pins for a guaranteed stay-put effect. A little teasing in this area can also work wonders for added security!

Wearing your wedding veil with a Hair bun or Ponytail

We love low buns and ponytails for beach destination weddings in Mexico, and for good reason! They’re not only stunning but also offer the best foundation for your veil.

Why are they so veil-friendly? The bun or ponytail provides a sturdy base of hair, making it easy to secure the veil’s comb for a worry-free day. But placement is key, here are a few things to keep in mind:

Classic Chignon or Ponytail: For a timeless look, position the veil comb 1-2 inches above the hairpiece. This ensures both the veil and your hairstyle shine!

Want a more contemporary vibe? Consider placing the veil below the bun, closer to your nape. This keeps the focus on your beautifully styled hair and any hair accessories.

How to secure and remove your veil like a pro?

After choosing the veil placement based on your hairstyle, it’s important to learn how to get it securely attached and then remove it flawlessly.

Updos and half-up/half-down styles are your best friends when it comes to veil attachment. These styles offer a natural grip, making the veil easy to secure and comfortable to wear.

But how do you remove it after the ceremony? Ask your hairstylist to show your mom or maid of honor the best way to take it off without messing up your gorgeous bridal hairstyle!

Attaching Your Veil:

  • Position the veil comb so the curve follows the shape of your head for a snug fit.
  • If your veil has a blusher (the face-covering part), ensure it’s folded neatly in front before placing the comb.

Veil Removal:

  • First, have your helper remove any bobby pins securing the comb.
  • Place one hand under the veil, on top of the comb, while gently holding your hair in place with the other hand.
  • With your other hand, carefully lift the comb straight up to remove the veil.

Now that you know the drill, tell us which veil placement you’re considering for your bridal look. We can help you visualize the perfect combination for your dream wedding day in Mexico!
