Our secrets for a perfect wedding getting ready

It’s time to spoil yourself before THE day! And yes, we are talking about wedding getting ready hair and makeup. Your big day is your time to shine, so you need to look good and more importantly, feel good … We’ve prepped a few suggestions to stream-flow your beauty services timeline. Because there is always time to shine…

Our basic secrets for the perfect wedding getting ready

If you are planning on having eyelash extensions, have them done a few days before your Riviera Maya trip so they last throughout your entire destination wedding. We can always touch up individual lashes in case you lose a few while snorkeling before your wedding day…

Prepare your hair clip extensions the night before if you plan to use them… Detangle them, and clean them so they fit easily into your hairstyle and look natural. Have them ready for your Playa del Carmen hairdresser to work into your hair.

The day of

Wash your hair the night before the wedding or the same morning to ensure it is in the best condition for styling. Also, consider not coming to your appointment with very wet hair to avoid wasting precious time trying to dry it, especially if you have long or thick hair. You might also want to avoid oily or heavy hair products so that your stylist can texturize and create the best hairstyle.

Before our arrival, prepare your accessories like a comb, veil, and any accessories/headpieces you want to use.

Have some pictures ready, especially if you didn’t book a trial with your artist. This will serve as inspiration so we save time finding the perfect bridal look together.

Clean and moisturize your face before our appointment. We also suggest not trying out new face masks or moisturizers. You could have a negative reaction to the products. To be on the safe side, stick with the products you know and love.

Be ready to enjoy yourself for 2 hours

This is a personal decision, but we recommend you consider extra getting ready time for your wedding. Allow 60 minutes for your hair (45 minutes for guests) and then another 60 minutes for your wedding makeup (45 minutes for guests). We know it sounds like a lot, but you want to give your wedding stylist and wedding makeup artist time to set up, create the look, and adjust it as needed.

If you’re having a first look, make sure your Riviera Maya glam team knows so you can be ready on time. Overall, we recommend starting three to five hours before the ceremony.

Also plan to delegate tasks to your wedding party, so you can relax. If you’re planning your own wedding in Mexico, it helps to have someone available in case things get hectic.

A few hours before

Before your glam squad arrives in your room, it helps to prep the space. Tidy it up, open the curtain so we have as much natural light as possible, and provide some chairs for the artists to work.

You should also factor in breakfast as your Riviera Maya wedding day will be loooong. Give yourself plenty of time to wake up, mingle with your friends, and take any photos you want with your family members and wedding party.

While getting ready for your wedding, you should wear something you feel comfortable in. There are many clothing options but stay away from anything that has to be undressed over your head as this could affect your hair and makeup once it’s done.

Don’t forget to hang up your wedding dress. Keep your wedding day attire out of the way until all of the prep work is taken care of. Take out all the things that you want your photographer to photograph upon your arrival (e.g. flowers, rings, jewelry, shoes…) While we get your hair and makeup done, your photographer can get to work and take some pictures of you…
