Beauty basics you can do to prep for your wedding day!

15492075_1537393302955575_773872308846599447_nEvery bride deserves to look flawless on her wedding day. And to ensure that you look perfect on your special day there is a couple of beauty basics you can do to prep for your destination wedding!

Hair

Styling, coloring and blow-drying your hair in a daily basis can result in damage hair, so before the wedding day we would recommend you to hydrate and revitalize your hair by getting a Keratin treatment and maybe a couple weeks before the wedding get a little trim to get rid of the spit ends.

Perfect Hair Stylist Ask Question (3)

If you color your hair, we recommend you do it at least two weeks before the wedding, so the re-growth doesn’t show. And if you can,  bring with you a highlight activating / colour protecting shampoo!

Face

A good advice is to always keep hydrated! Especially when you arrive to the Riviera Maya, since you might not be used to the weather we will recommend you to drink lots and lots of water even if you are not thirsty!.

If you are planning on waxing your eyebrows, try to do it at least 3 days before the big day, so your skin isn’t irritated or red the day of.

drinking water

If you want to prepare your skin, you can also have a facial done at least a week before the wedding as facials can cause redness and breakouts. A week will be enough time for your skin to calm down and get back to normal.

Skin

If you are planning on sunbathing and 240_F_90571629_9wNAhLwBPKuJ1gqmeQmrS4Ghzv8RYVSXenjoying the gorgeous caribbean beach of Tulum, we would recommend you to always always use sunscreen, apply it as often as you can. Also, applying aloe-vera after a long day at the beach will help your skin recover and feel fresh!

Also, remember to bring a good sunscreen for your face and body, at least a 30SPF.

Accessories

Dirty-Blonde-Clip-In-Hair-ExtensionsSome brides choose to have hair extensions and eye-leash extensions. In this case we would recommend you to get the clip on extensions, rather than the glued ones, especially if you plan to jump in the pool or have a romantic ocean swim.

For the eyelashes, sometimes is better to get the fake eyelashes that come with your bridal make up, this way you can decide how bold you want them to be on the wedding day, rather than worrying if your permanent fake eyelashes might fall before the big day.

From Wedding day magic to happily ever after!

One of my favorite perks of being a wedding professional is that I get to know amazing women in one the most important days of their lives. Sharing this moment with them is truly magical! But the real bonus is when I get to be part of other special moments of their life and when I get to see how love flourishes! When the wedding day magic, becomes into happily ever after!

Sometimes we are lucky enough to cross paths with our beautiful brides again! To meet up again and be part of the magic again! In this case we were able to be part of the family photos of one of our favorite brides ever!

The first time I met Samantha was back in November of 2015 when I had the opportunity to be her Hair & MU artist for her boho-chic wedding in Tulum!

Samanta-Joaquin_0008

It was a gorgeous ceremony! She was one of the first brides to incorporate the greenery trend to her beach wedding back in 2015!

Samanta-Joaquin_0025

And then…In 2016, we heard from her again!! She was coming back to Playa del Carmen for a holiday! And guess what!!? Now they were gonna have a family photo-shooting with their baby girl!!! And so the magic continues! Right?

We had the opportunity to to Samantha’s hair and make up again! and to meet their gorgeous little one!

Fairmont-Mayakoba-Family-Portraits_0022

This photo-shooting at el Pueblito Mayakoba was so much fun! And the family looked radiant!

Fairmont-Mayakoba-Family-Portraits_0016

And once again! In February 2018, we had the opportunity to be part of their second family photos!! Now, we went back to Tulum, where they recreated some of their most beautiful wedding day moments!

Once..they were two…..

And now they are three!

What’s your name and where do you come from ?

Ches Pizzini. I was born in La Paz. I am Mexican.

Where did you study photography and how long have you been a photographer ?

Escuela Activa de Fotografía. I have been taking photos since my grandfather gave me my first camera at the age of 9. But I have been a professional photographer for 15 years.

Captura de pantalla 2017-01-15 a las 6.46.36 p.m.Photo by: Quetzal Photography // Hair and Make up by: Sarah Garnier Co.

How long have you been working in the Riviera Maya and why did you decide to work in this destination ?

I have lived and worked as a photographer in Playa del Carmen since 2004. I decided to move here because I am from the ocean. I love the ocean. I wanted to move as close to the ocean as possible and I loved the idea of getting to know another peninsula of my country.

How long have you been a wedding photographer and Why did you choose to shoot weddings?

I have been a wedding photographer for 15 years. However, it was not my intention to shoot weddings. My initial love was photo journalism and product photography. However, as I met people, weddings fell into my lap. I am always into trying something new, so I agreed. I fell in love with shooting weddings immediately. They took over my calendar and I never looked back.

How would you describe your wedding-photography style?

A mixture of lifestyle with photojournalism and a stroke of art

ashleys_quetzalPhoto by: Quetzal photography  // Hair and Make up by: Sarah Garnier Co.

Are you working alone or with a team ?

Quetzal Wedding Photo is my company. I am the primary camera and shooter 99% of the weddings. However, I love to work with my best friends, who are photographers. I really enjoy working in a team. Therefore, on larger weddings, I invite them to collaborate with me. I am the sole editor of all Quetzal Wedding Photo Weddings

What is your best wedding shoot memory ?

I shot a wedding once for a couple named Thomas and Christina. It was my favorite wedding to ever shoot because the energy and love was so strong; it literally moved me to tears. I have shot a lot of weddings, and I can say that my most favorite weddings are when the couple are truly in love with each other, really are grateful to have one another, and are comfortable and secure to share it in front of all their guests. The day vibrates on a completely unique frequency.

Which word would describe the best your job ?

LOVE

The hottest bridal trends of 2018…& the ones we love for your Riviera Maya wedding!

In the 2018 bridal fashion there was some bold trends. But remember, from whatever the catwalks bring…. you should pick only what works for you!.

What works will usually depend on: what you like, what you feel comfortable with, and the location of the wedding! So let us tell you a little bit of the 2018 trends, that we know you will love and are perfect for your Tulum or Riviera Maya beach wedding.

Shine on!

We love this trend! And its also perfect for the Riviera Maya humid weather.
With the airbrush make up technique we can crate the perfect soft glow, which looks great in the pictures! Also, airbrush make up holds for hours so you can look gorgeous all day and night!

Braid away!

Even though in the Riviera Maya we have been doing braids forever, it seems that braids are invading the bridal catwalks! So, lets keep the Tulum boho-chic look and lets try some new braided styles this 2018!

Flowers!

Flower crowns were the hottest style in 2017. However, in the 2018 bridal scene we see something more simple & sophisticated…. A couple of flowers paired with a beautiful chignon.

Back to basics!

Do you remember wearing a ribbon to school? Well, guess what?? Ribbons are back and they will look fabulous on your wedding day! If you wanted a hair accessory and you wanted something classical and subtle, then this trend is perfect for you!  For the catwalk, the color of choice was black,  for the Riviera Maya maybe blue, sand or pink will be the perfect choice!

Layer up!

And for the bridal dresses, the trend is this awesome extra layer that you can take off or add on! This is perfect for a beach wedding… depending on the weather you can add some layers to your dress!, or if you want to change your look for night-time just add on!

Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue…with a twist

Angie-Jim_0013(pp_w890_h593)Photo by: Quetzal Studio

We have all heard the saying of something old, something new, something borrowed and something new. But what does it all mean?

Well, it comes from an Old English rhyme, and they are tokens of good luck that your family and friends will give to you on the big day. But hey, now that you are getting married in the beautiful Riviera Maya in the Mexican Caribbean, why don’t we continue with the tradition and give it a little twist… so we had some ideas on what some items that would be perfect for a destination wedding and also check the traditional requirements! .

Something Old-

Something old represents continuity.

Is there somthing your grandma gave you when you were little?, remeber those photo locklets that grandmas used to have? And even more perfect if it has a picture of grandma! Or even better, if grandma is at the wedding!

Photo: Fine Art Studio

Something new-

Represents optimism for the future.

Most brides something new is their wedding dress!, if you choose your something new to be the dress..this is awesome!, because after the wedding you can take it to the cenote or the beach and have alot of fun doing a trash the dress photoshoot!

Something borrowed-

Symbolizes happiness.

This is always a hard one. You could borrow a hair accessory from friends or family for your hair up-do, or borrow your mom’s jewelry…this is always a good one!

sofisticate up do

Something blue –

Represent purity, love, and fidelity.

Well this one was the easiest of them all, with the gorgeous turquoise blue ocean from the Riviera Maya as your background we are sure your marriage will be filled with love! And since we are in México, why not making a specialty blue cocktail with blue agave Tequila for your guests, nothing can go wrong with this …right?

Captura de pantalla 2017-03-27 a las 1.01.53 p.m.

Or if you would like to play it safe, you could let the groom help you out with this one… he could wear a blue suit for the perfect beach wedding!

1-    What’s your name and where do you come from ?

My name is Manuel Cappellari and I moved here from Argentina 8 years ago with my family; my wife and two little boys. Some know me as Manu, and others as Viejo Lobo, it’s a words game.

2-    Where did you study photography and how long have you been a photographer ?

I’m a self-taught photographer. I’m very curious, I read everything I can find and ask a lot of questions. Although I had an unique school in Tulum. In the beginning, I was fortunate to work as a producer assistant for a fashion production company based in Tulum, Cocoshoot Productions, with clients like Victoria Secret, Vogue, Elle, big ones! The photographers were incredible, the TOP models are amazing, so many people to do one pic? I couldn’t believe it. But then I learned that the photography was just another part of the work.

16651030_10210385103536846_1591721085_o 16586480_10210385104056859_859494550_o

3-    How long have you been working in the Riviera Maya and why did you decide to work in this destination ?

I started working for the destination before moving here. We were collaborating from our advertising agency in Argentina with a local project in Tulum, a magazine called Republica. That’s how we learned that some dreams may come true and that we could try living in the Caribbean. We can’t be thankful enough!

4-    How long have you been a wedding photographer and Why did you choose to shoot weddings?

Although I started shooting weddings by accident, right away I discovered that it was the most full-filling for me. In fashion all is beautiful and very profesional, but very technical as well, nothing is spontaneous. In a wedding instead, everything is unique: the Yes I Do, the first kiss, the hugs, the first dance. That’s what makes wedding photos so important, they will last for ever. It’s the beginning of a family. Wow!

5-    How would you describe your wedding-photography style?

Relaxed and real, that’s the idea. No fake, please. If I could make myself invisible, it’d be perfect. I try not to interfere with what is happening so I can get the real feel. Of course we always have the portrait session with the couple and all the family, but most of the time I’m surrounding the couple and trying to get all the little moments.

6-    Are you working alone or with a team ?

We are a team running the business, but I’m the eye behind the camera and the editor of my photos and videos. I think of it as an art, but I had to learn how to delegate a little, emails and the administration mostly.

16667942_10210385104576872_501000251_oPhoto by Manuel Cappellari

7-   What is your best wedding shoot memory ?

My first wedding. I do remember getting to the beach, and the view of the palm trees and the pelicans and all the place dressed up, like a dream… it was a bit shocking! And then I understood what a Destination Wedding was about.

8-  Which word would you use to describe your job?

Feelings.

9- What is the best advice you could tell to the brides and Groom who are reading this interview for their wedding day?

Listen to your wedding planner, be yourself, and enjoy the moment. Be careful with Pinterest, the boards can look beautiful but many of them have editorial purposes and are not real weddings.
