Utterly romantic things to do in the Riviera Maya!

While planning your Riviera Maya wedding you might visit the area a couple of times before the big day to scout venues, vendors and possible activities. While all this is hard work, you and your significant other might need a day or two to pamper yourselves and turn these trips into romantic getaways too.

Let us tell you a couple of unique experiences that you can enjoy with your significant other:

1.Sunrise paddle board!

Every morning the sun paints the sky with beautiful colors! If you and your significant other are an active couple you would love this activity!

Enjoy the morning by the side of your loved one, get energized by the sunrise and fall in love with the Caribbean Sea.

2. Alux Restaurant in Playa del Carmen.

If you like a more excentric place and a once in a lifetime dinner date experience, then Alux is for you! Dine inside a whimsical cavern. Enjoy gourmet Mexican food while listening to live music inside a millenary cavern is definitely a once in a lifetime experience.  After dinner, you can your glass of wine and take a tour around the cavern and admire the beautiful formations.Captura de pantalla 2019-09-15 a las 7.27.03 p.m.Photo by: Alux Restaurant

3) The Cirque du Soleil- Joya

Visiting the Cirque du Soleil it’s an amazing experience. The VIP package offers a mouth-watering menu with an unbelievable presentation, a bottle of sparkling wine and the Joya show it’s a visual treat of acrobatic skills, color, and aesthetics.  All your senses will be immersed in a magical moment! The show is fantastic, the makeup and characterization of the acrobats are just world-class. 02-Joya-700x432Photo by: Cirque du soleil.

After the show, you and your loved one can enjoy the venue, have a cocktail listen to live music and dance!

4) Romantic photoshoot

The Caribbean Sea is the most romantic and stunning backdrop for a session booked with a local photographer. Or if you are more adventurous, there are literally thousands of cenotes (limestone sinkholes) throughout the Rivera Maya that are beautiful beyond your imagination and are also a magical set to showcase your love! And of course, if you like we can take care of your beauty services so you look even more beautiful underwater.

Be a reef friendly eco-bride!

Laura+Benjamin_0358

A Riviera Maya destination wedding is all about enjoying the beach, the turquoise ocean and the Cenotes! To keep the ocean and the beach beautiful we need to take care of the coral reefs!

Mexico-Wedding-Story-by-Eva-Poleschinski-Oliver-Rathschueler-2-13Dress & Photoshooting for: Eva Poleschinski

Why are coral reefs important?

The reefs provide protection from hurricanes, maintain the beaches (erosion and provision of sand), they are an important habitat for marine life and support our local fisheries (and we all love fresh seafood, right?)

What can you do to protect the reef when visiting the Riviera Maya?

costa-rica_coral-reef_shutterstock_88712773

Please only use Reef friendly sunscreen. Regular sunscreens have toxic chemicals that harm the reef and local waterways (Cenotes), because they diminish the corals’ ability to photosynthesize (bleaching) & can even cause diseases to the corals, so choosing the right products is more important than ever! You can take care of your skin, your guests and the coral reefs with a reef-safe sunscreen!

Take care of the Cenotes & enjoy your trash the dress photoshooting!

48429064_10155648764412391_8579051694627749888_nPicture by: Fine Art Studio

Chemicals to avoid:

Some sunscreens might say they are reef-friendly, but they are not!!! Make sure your sunscreen is free of:

  • Benzophenone-3, also known as Oxybenzone.
  • Avobenzone, also a benzophenone.
  • Cylcopentasiloxane / Cyclomethicone.
  • Formaldehyde, Diazolidinyl urea, Quaternium-15, DMDM Hydantoin and Hydroxymethylglycinate. …
  • Nanoparticles.
  • Zinc

The list is quite large, it pretty much includes any chemical ingredient that is hard to pronounce and even includes zinc! We couldn’t believe it; even though Zinc is natural in large quantities it could be harmful to the reef!

But don’t worry there are a few great options out there!

Our recommendations:

Steam2Sea  You can order it online!

Sunscreen-Body-1oz

And if you are already in the Riviera Maya and you forgot to bring reef-friendly sunscreen…well, a Zinc base one would be a better option than one full of nasty chemicals. You will find options like Maya Solar almost in every water sports shop in Tulum, Playa del Carmen or Cancun!

If you would like to find out more about harmful chemicals you can check the stream to sea webpage!

A reef-friendly sunscreen it’s a great wedding favor for your guests!, their skin and the reef will thank you!

We hope you have fun and enjoy the reef & Cenotes!

Everything You Need To Know To Choose the Perfect Fake Eyelashes for your Wedding Day!

Captura de pantalla 2019-02-05 a las 9.35.38 p.m.

Lately, we have received several e-mails from our brides to be, asking about fake eyelashes vs eye lash extensions. So we have decided to talk a little bit about the different options to help you choose the best option for your special day!

Why should you wear fake eyelashes?

  1. Intensify your look! – Dramatic eyes!15492075_1537393302955575_773872308846599447_n
  2. Glamorous or romantic look depending on the volume.                                                              You can achieve a romantic look by wearing longer and thiner eyelashes or a glamorous look with lots volume and length.
  3.  It’s your wedding day, such an especial day deserves the perfect look! Be bold and say yes to the eyelashes.

Types of eyelashes

Single use-

The single use eyelashes are included in all of our makeup packages! Don’t worry, we have all kinds of volumes and lengths!

41xa7cJ1qzL

  1. Single use Strip lashes.  You can choose different volumes and length.
  2. Single use- one by one. For a natural effect, just a couple of extra lashes to give you a romantic look.

Natural_Strip_Eyelashes_Shy_Snowflake_Lashionista_Luxe_1024x1024

Just remove the eyelashes with your regular make up remover and you are ready for bed!

You can use mascara and eyeliner without worrying!

Re-usable

  1. Magnetic eyelashes. No glue needed and they are re-usable!  Two strips of eyelashes hold together by tiny magnets.

You can gently pull them out and save them for you next party!  With this type of lashes you can also use mascara and eyeliner without worrying!

11589066-7194556135497362

You will need to bring your re-usable eyelashes, you can find them online or your nearest make up store.

Extensions

  1. They last up to 3 weeks without maintenance, if you like to wear them for longer you will need to go with your eyelash specialist for a touch up!
  2. You CAN´T use oily makeup remover and some facial cleansers.
  3. You need to be careful when going in the ocean, touching your eyes or removing your make up.
  4. No need for mascara.
  5. Look amazing during all of your trip in México!

You will need to visit a professional eyelash bar or salon.

What’s your name and where do you come from ?

Ches Pizzini. I was born in La Paz. I am Mexican.

Where did you study photography and how long have you been a photographer ?

Escuela Activa de Fotografía. I have been taking photos since my grandfather gave me my first camera at the age of 9. But I have been a professional photographer for 15 years.

Captura de pantalla 2017-01-15 a las 6.46.36 p.m.Photo by: Quetzal Photography // Hair and Make up by: Sarah Garnier Co.

How long have you been working in the Riviera Maya and why did you decide to work in this destination ?

I have lived and worked as a photographer in Playa del Carmen since 2004. I decided to move here because I am from the ocean. I love the ocean. I wanted to move as close to the ocean as possible and I loved the idea of getting to know another peninsula of my country.

How long have you been a wedding photographer and Why did you choose to shoot weddings?

I have been a wedding photographer for 15 years. However, it was not my intention to shoot weddings. My initial love was photo journalism and product photography. However, as I met people, weddings fell into my lap. I am always into trying something new, so I agreed. I fell in love with shooting weddings immediately. They took over my calendar and I never looked back.

How would you describe your wedding-photography style?

A mixture of lifestyle with photojournalism and a stroke of art

ashleys_quetzalPhoto by: Quetzal photography  // Hair and Make up by: Sarah Garnier Co.

Are you working alone or with a team ?

Quetzal Wedding Photo is my company. I am the primary camera and shooter 99% of the weddings. However, I love to work with my best friends, who are photographers. I really enjoy working in a team. Therefore, on larger weddings, I invite them to collaborate with me. I am the sole editor of all Quetzal Wedding Photo Weddings

What is your best wedding shoot memory ?

I shot a wedding once for a couple named Thomas and Christina. It was my favorite wedding to ever shoot because the energy and love was so strong; it literally moved me to tears. I have shot a lot of weddings, and I can say that my most favorite weddings are when the couple are truly in love with each other, really are grateful to have one another, and are comfortable and secure to share it in front of all their guests. The day vibrates on a completely unique frequency.

Which word would describe the best your job ?

LOVE

The hottest bridal trends of 2018…& the ones we love for your Riviera Maya wedding!

In the 2018 bridal fashion there was some bold trends. But remember, from whatever the catwalks bring…. you should pick only what works for you!.

What works will usually depend on: what you like, what you feel comfortable with, and the location of the wedding! So let us tell you a little bit of the 2018 trends, that we know you will love and are perfect for your Tulum or Riviera Maya beach wedding.

Shine on!

We love this trend! And its also perfect for the Riviera Maya humid weather.
With the airbrush make up technique we can crate the perfect soft glow, which looks great in the pictures! Also, airbrush make up holds for hours so you can look gorgeous all day and night!

Braid away!

Even though in the Riviera Maya we have been doing braids forever, it seems that braids are invading the bridal catwalks! So, lets keep the Tulum boho-chic look and lets try some new braided styles this 2018!

bridalbraidlookbook_cover

Flowers!

Flower crowns were the hottest style in 2017. However, in the 2018 bridal scene we see something more simple & sophisticated…. A couple of flowers paired with a beautiful chignon.

Back to basics!

Do you remember wearing a ribbon to school? Well, guess what?? Ribbons are back and they will look fabulous on your wedding day! If you wanted a hair accessory and you wanted something classical and subtle, then this trend is perfect for you!  For the catwalk, the color of choice was black,  for the Riviera Maya maybe blue, sand or pink will be the perfect choice!

Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue…with a twist

Angie-Jim_0013(pp_w890_h593)Photo by: Quetzal Studio

We have all heard the saying of something old, something new, something borrowed and something new. But what does it all mean?

Well, it comes from an Old English rhyme, and they are tokens of good luck that your family and friends will give to you on the big day. But hey, now that you are getting married in the beautiful Riviera Maya in the Mexican Caribbean, why don’t we continue with the tradition and give it a little twist… so we had some ideas on what some items that would be perfect for a destination wedding and also check the traditional requirements! .

Something Old-

Something old represents continuity.

Is there somthing your grandma gave you when you were little?, remeber those photo locklets that grandmas used to have? And even more perfect if it has a picture of grandma! Or even better, if grandma is at the wedding!

Photo: Fine Art Studio

Something new-

Represents optimism for the future.

Most brides something new is their wedding dress!, if you choose your something new to be the dress..this is awesome!, because after the wedding you can take it to the cenote or the beach and have alot of fun doing a trash the dress photoshoot!

Something borrowed-

Symbolizes happiness.

This is always a hard one. You could borrow a hair accessory from friends or family for your hair up-do, or borrow your mom’s jewelry…this is always a good one!

sofisticate up do

Something blue –

Represent purity, love, and fidelity.

Well this one was the easiest of them all, with the gorgeous turquoise blue ocean from the Riviera Maya as your background we are sure your marriage will be filled with love! And since we are in México, why not making a specialty blue cocktail with blue agave Tequila for your guests, nothing can go wrong with this …right?

Captura de pantalla 2017-03-27 a las 1.01.53 p.m.

Or if you would like to play it safe, you could let the groom help you out with this one… he could wear a blue suit for the perfect beach wedding!
