People from all over the world choose  Playa del Carmen & Tulum for their Riviera Maya destination wedding. Recently, we’ve had the honor to take care of a few beautiful Asian-American brides! And we loved every minute!!

Bebe_Colin_1770 (1280x853)

Learning about the different traditions has been an unforgettable experience!

Did you know that in the Chinese wedding ceremony the color “red” is the color for luck and joy? Red can be integrated into the wedding using: a red attire, linens, floral, seat cushions and party favors. The dress can be as traditional or as modern as the bride wants!. Just look at Vivian’s modern and gorgeous red dress!vivianPhoto by: Hideki- Buttonup Photography

or Bebe’s more traditional and glamorous gown!

Most Asian brides change from the traditional red attire for the tea ceremony to the more westernized white dress for the wedding (sometimes the other way around).  Our brides usually ask us to stay for touch ups between ceremonies!, and we love it!!! We love helping them change, touch up their makeup and sometimes even change the hairdo a little, just to feel fresh and have a different look for the pics!

If you thought Asian weddings are super fun, vibrant & colorful…. wait till we tell you about the trash the dress photo-shootings!!! The red dress underwater in the Mayan cenotes, is just mind blowing! What do you think?

Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue…with a twist

Angie-Jim_0013(pp_w890_h593)Photo by: Quetzal Studio

We have all heard the saying of something old, something new, something borrowed and something new. But what does it all mean?

Well, it comes from an Old English rhyme, and they are tokens of good luck that your family and friends will give to you on the big day. But hey, now that you are getting married in the beautiful Riviera Maya in the Mexican Caribbean, why don’t we continue with the tradition and give it a little twist… so we had some ideas on what some items that would be perfect for a destination wedding and also check the traditional requirements! .

Something Old-

Something old represents continuity.

Is there somthing your grandma gave you when you were little?, remeber those photo locklets that grandmas used to have? And even more perfect if it has a picture of grandma! Or even better, if grandma is at the wedding!

Something new-

Represents optimism for the future.

Most brides something new is their wedding dress!, if you choose your something new to be the dress..this is awesome!, because after the wedding you can take it to the cenote or the beach and have alot of fun doing a trash the dress photoshoot!

Something borrowed-

Symbolizes happiness.

This is always a hard one. You could borrow a hair accessory from friends or family for your hair up-do, or borrow your mom’s jewelry…this is always a good one!

sofisticate up do

Something blue –

Represent purity, love, and fidelity.

Well this one was the easiest of them all, with the gorgeous turquoise blue ocean from the Riviera Maya as your background we are sure your marriage will be filled with love! And since we are in México, why not making a specialty blue cocktail with blue agave Tequila for your guests, nothing can go wrong with this …right?

Captura de pantalla 2017-03-27 a las 1.01.53 p.m.

Or if you would like to play it safe, you could let the groom help you out with this one… he could wear a blue suit for the perfect beach wedding!

1-    What’s your name and where do you come from ?

My name is Manuel Cappellari and I moved here from Argentina 8 years ago with my family; my wife and two little boys. Some know me as Manu, and others as Viejo Lobo, it’s a words game.

2-    Where did you study photography and how long have you been a photographer ?

I’m a self-taught photographer. I’m very curious, I read everything I can find and ask a lot of questions. Although I had an unique school in Tulum. In the beginning, I was fortunate to work as a producer assistant for a fashion production company based in Tulum, Cocoshoot Productions, with clients like Victoria Secret, Vogue, Elle, big ones! The photographers were incredible, the TOP models are amazing, so many people to do one pic? I couldn’t believe it. But then I learned that the photography was just another part of the work.

3-    How long have you been working in the Riviera Maya and why did you decide to work in this destination ?

I started working for the destination before moving here. We were collaborating from our advertising agency in Argentina with a local project in Tulum, a magazine called Republica. That’s how we learned that some dreams may come true and that we could try living in the Caribbean. We can’t be thankful enough!

4-    How long have you been a wedding photographer and Why did you choose to shoot weddings?

Although I started shooting weddings by accident, right away I discovered that it was the most full-filling for me. In fashion all is beautiful and very profesional, but very technical as well, nothing is spontaneous. In a wedding instead, everything is unique: the Yes I Do, the first kiss, the hugs, the first dance. That’s what makes wedding photos so important, they will last for ever. It’s the beginning of a family. Wow!

5-    How would you describe your wedding-photography style?

Relaxed and real, that’s the idea. No fake, please. If I could make myself invisible, it’d be perfect. I try not to interfere with what is happening so I can get the real feel. Of course we always have the portrait session with the couple and all the family, but most of the time I’m surrounding the couple and trying to get all the little moments.

6-    Are you working alone or with a team ?

We are a team running the business, but I’m the eye behind the camera and the editor of my photos and videos. I think of it as an art, but I had to learn how to delegate a little, emails and the administration mostly.

16667942_10210385104576872_501000251_oPhoto by Manuel Cappellari

7-   What is your best wedding shoot memory ?

My first wedding. I do remember getting to the beach, and the view of the palm trees and the pelicans and all the place dressed up, like a dream… it was a bit shocking! And then I understood what a Destination Wedding was about.

8-  Which word would you use to describe your job?

Feelings.

9- What is the best advice you could tell to the brides and Groom who are reading this interview for their wedding day?

Listen to your wedding planner, be yourself, and enjoy the moment. Be careful with Pinterest, the boards can look beautiful but many of them have editorial purposes and are not real weddings.

My name is Jonathan Cossu and I come from Pisa, Italy

I arrived to the mayan Riviera in 1996 and it’s where I met the mother of my  2 kids. This is now my home .

How long have you been a wedding photographer and why did you choose to shoot weddings ?

I started shooting weddings in 1998 inspired by the emotion and the stories of each couple I meet. I love to laugh, dance and capture real moments. I truly enjoy working with couples who like my crazy personality, trust my vision and treat me as a friend.

How would you describe your wedding photography style ?

Relaxed and authentic documentary style with an artistry twist, focused unstrung and beautiful moments that convey a story. Love to use vibrant colors and play with unique compositions.

Are you working alone or with a team ?

I have too many, this is why I love what I do.

Which word you describe the best your job ?

Emotional

Your wedding photos are all you’ll have in the end, so take some time to find that perfect match (think long time friend). Go with someone who you feel identified with, someone committed that will offer you quality over quantity, someone who cares and whom you know will be fun to have around.

Huile Prodigieuse NUXE – Dry Oil

nuxe-huile-3

NUXE Paris is a cosmetic brand created by a french pharmacist in 1957. The man was obsessed with aromatherapy and his daughter gave the brand a natural cosmetic oriented style. The motto is “Beautiful by Nature” and the name comes from the combination of Nature and Luxury : NUXE (Nature et luxe in French)

The brand offers a wide range of skin, hair and body treatments products with a high percentage of natural ingredients and of course non animal tested. All the products parabens free, really delicate and respectful of the skin care.

Today we highlight the star product of NUXE , the famous HUILE PRODIGIEUSE – Dry Oil.

nuxe-huile-prodigieuse

Huile Prodigieuse is a multi-purpose dry oil. You can use it on your skin, hair and body. One and only product for night care, hair treatment and of course body lotion.

First, when you open the bottle, you can smell an amazing and inexpressible fragrance that really makes you happy in one second.

Then, applying the oil on your skin, you can feel a smooth texture on your fingers before observing a no greasy oily look on your hair and body. The result is a beautiful and very well hydrated skin .

Getting Married in the Carribean ?

If you are a bride to be planning to say I DO at the beach and particularly in a humid place like the Mayan Riviera in Mexico , NUXE offer the shimmery version of the Dry oil called Huile Prodigieuse Or or Golden shimmer that makes your skin sparkle like a star.

huile-prodigieuse

This oil is a very good option after the sunbaths. The sun hits a lot in the caribbean and of course it is highly recommended to use a sunscreen all day long to avoid sunburns before the big day.  But when the sun goes down you can use the dry oil after the shower. It will hydrate your skin and hair without no shiny skin result. It actually will make your skin looks healthier.

The shimmery version of Huile Prodigieuse NUXE OR gives a silky result but doesn’t stain clothes.  If you choose to use  it for the big day we suggest to first get dressed and then just apply some drops of the products on your arms and neck.

It is better not to use it on you hair and face for the big day because your professional hair and make up artist will know exactly the products to use according to your complexion to have the longest lasting as possible with a such humid and sometimes windy weather .

How long have you been a wedding photographer and why did you choose to shoot weddings ?

In 2006 I was the wedding photographer for a couple of friends in Italy but I started my own business in march 2012. My love for wedding photography is based on the pure joy I see and feel from the bride and groom and for what wedding symbolizes – life, love, commitment and happiness. My artistic approach fuses an editorial fashion sense, a taste for distinctive colors, a relaxed shooting approach and a strong passion for capturing “real life” moments. I believe that photographing a wedding is more than simply documenting the event of a day. Providing truly great memories requires insight, intuition and the ability to connect with people on an emotional level throughout the entire process.

My style of photography is glamorous and fashionable, yet classic and natural at the same time.

Are you working alone or with a team ?

Matt & Sol – DEL SOL PHOTOGRAPHY : Wedding Photographers

Michele Hall and Jose Sepulveda, Michele Sepulveda, Wedding at Kool Beach Club, Playa del Carmen, Mexico.

Michele Hall and Jose Sepulveda, Michele Sepulveda, Wedding at Kool Beach Club, Playa del Carmen, Mexico.

What’s you name  ?

My name is Matt Adcock and my partner’s name is Sol Tamargo. We are a destination wedding photography studio who operates in Playa del Carmen available for travel worldwide.

Can you tell us about how you both became  wedding photographers and about how you like to work ?

Studying photography  has been something interesting for us are we are all self taught in our studio. With a team of six photographers, the camera always felt natural to us and in some way or another, we all chased the image learning as we go. With the invention of digital and the amazing ability to cut the learning curve by immediately evaluating the image, almost anyone can start learning and working towards the goal to finding professional clients. maintaining a business is a completely different subject.

We have been in business more than 10 years and were first photographers to bring popularity to the region with the trash the dress theme by taking brides and grooms underwater and exploring an entirely new nice of photography.

Huffington Post has named us as wedding trailblazers for the invention of even a newer trend with the bride and groom, we call it the Adam and Eve sessions. Basically bride and groom do underwater photography with their wedding outfits on and eventually get totally naked. We shoot these images in a tasteful and respectful way so that we can show them to our clients and keep things “safe” while delivering more revealing and more sexy images to our clients privately.

What is you best wedding shoot memory ?

My best wedding memory was while I was shooting a family wedding. My 92 years old grandmother casually walked in front of a photo I was taking that included the wedding dress. Before I could realize it, she stopped to make a lipstick adjustment and the resulting image is probably my favorite image of all time. The image was awarded a first place award by the International Society of Professional Wedding Photographers in the category of wedding dress. Photographer-Favorite-Pictures_0001

What is the best advice you could tell the brides and grooms who are reading this interview for their wedding day ?

Our “best advice for brides and grooms” is something that we have actually accumulated from past experiences from real del Sol Photography clients when they give us testimonials. The majority of them say one thing. Stop stressing, enjoy your wedding day, let things go and remember that time will be flying by on the wedding day.  Remember to look everyone of your guests in the eyes and if possible give each and every one a big hug and thank them for travelling to attend the destination wedding vacation in Mexico.

How future brides and grooms can contact you ?

They can visit our website Del Sol Photography  and write us a message on Contact us . It will be a pleasure to help them find the best option for their wedding day

BEAUTYBLENDER : A MUST HAVE !

You probably already saw these colorful egg shape sponges everywhere,  but you maybe don’t really know how to use them. If you love make up and if you are used to wear foundation, this little egg is made for you !

beauty-blenders

The original beauty blender is pink and has been created by Rea Ann Silva in 2007 . It first replaced the classic foundation brushes of the professional make up artists but now it became so popular that you can find it everywhere and use it for your make up at home!

It is the best tool for traditional foundation application. The thing is to use it wet. “If you use it dry, it doesn’t work the same way, the magic is when you wet the sponge” Says the Rea Ann Silva . “When it’s wet, it becomes bigger, softer and less thirsty, instead of sucking up the make up, it pushes it out into the face “

beauty blender

Photo : Courtesy of Beauty Blender. Designed by Ly Ngo.

Wet the sponge until its completely saturated and squeeze out the excess water. Then dab it in your make up . When you apply the make up , you will see you have a better coverage with less product. The result is very natural and gives a non make up effect. This little egg shape is perfect  for application under the eyes, around the nose and along the lips.

To understand better how to use your beauty blender what’s is better than a little video :

The beautyblender gives a flawless result, your skin will look amazing, fresh and light. Try it and  you will love it ! You can also use this sponge to apply your blush and bronzer.

Your make up artist tips :

  • You can use a beauty blender for make up but also to apply your face moisturizer, cream , serum, primer, spa etc… the sponge use the perfect amount of product and the application is very uniform and gives a perfect coverage.
  • If you are a bride to be getting married in a tropical place like the Riviera Maya Mexico,  and you plan to have a beautiful airbrush make up for the big day, you can get used to wear your traditional foundation using the beauty blender. The result will never be as perfect as an airbrush application but you will see it is not that far.
