What’s your name and where do you come from ?

Ches Pizzini. I was born in La Paz. I am Mexican.

Where did you study photography and how long have you been a photographer ?

Escuela Activa de Fotografía. I have been taking photos since my grandfather gave me my first camera at the age of 9. But I have been a professional photographer for 15 years.

How long have you been working in the Riviera Maya and why did you decide to work in this destination ?

I have lived and worked as a photographer in Playa del Carmen since 2004. I decided to move here because I am from the ocean. I love the ocean. I wanted to move as close to the ocean as possible and I loved the idea of getting to know another peninsula of my country.

How long have you been a wedding photographer and Why did you choose to shoot weddings?

I have been a wedding photographer for 15 years. However, it was not my intention to shoot weddings. My initial love was photo journalism and product photography. However, as I met people, weddings fell into my lap. I am always into trying something new, so I agreed. I fell in love with shooting weddings immediately. They took over my calendar and I never looked back.

How would you describe your wedding-photography style?

A mixture of lifestyle with photojournalism and a stroke of art

ashleys_quetzalPhoto by: Quetzal photography  // Hair and Make up by: Sarah Garnier Co.

Are you working alone or with a team ?

Quetzal Wedding Photo is my company. I am the primary camera and shooter 99% of the weddings. However, I love to work with my best friends, who are photographers. I really enjoy working in a team. Therefore, on larger weddings, I invite them to collaborate with me. I am the sole editor of all Quetzal Wedding Photo Weddings

What is your best wedding shoot memory ?

I shot a wedding once for a couple named Thomas and Christina. It was my favorite wedding to ever shoot because the energy and love was so strong; it literally moved me to tears. I have shot a lot of weddings, and I can say that my most favorite weddings are when the couple are truly in love with each other, really are grateful to have one another, and are comfortable and secure to share it in front of all their guests. The day vibrates on a completely unique frequency.

Which word would describe the best your job ?

LOVE

Should I wear hair extensions for my wedding day???

The answer is Yes!!!, extensions are perfect for everyone! You can use hair extensions if you want to add either:

  • Length
  • Volume

20633805_895521947254798_8133513421090979840_nBefore & After (Achievin

Hair extensions come in different lengths. Most common are 18” , 20” & 22”. Keep in mind that your natural hair needs to blend in with the extensions. For example, if you have a short haircut it’s better to choose shorter extensions. And as long as your hair is at least shoulder length, the hair extensions will blend and the clips will be secure and will not show thru the short hair.

If you have thin hair… hair extensions are perfect for you as well! With the extensions, you will have more volume and length!! Which is exactly what you want in order to achieve your dreamed wedding hair!

how-to-clip-in-hair-extensions-for-different-hairstyles-missysueHair extensions are perfect for adding length & volume, even for thin hair (Photo: missysue.com)

Here are some perfect examples of beautiful bridal buns with the added volume from the hair extensions!

What we recommend:

-We recommend the clip in hair extensions instead of keratin or the any glued extensions (Remember you will be swimming in the beautiful blue ocean of the Mexican Caribbean, lets avoid a tangled disaster!), the advantage with clip ons is, that you can just take them off at the end of the day, wash them, conditioned them and let them dry on their own. You can go and enjoy the Riviera Maya beach, without worrying about damaging your new hair extensions!

Dirty-Blonde-Clip-In-Hair-Extensions

-We also recommend you to buy natural hair, because natural hair allows us to curl them, dry them and straight it without damaging it!

Sarah’s Tip: Buy a couple of hair extensions with lighter tones and other with a bit darker shade, this will help to create a highlights effect, give more depth to your hairdo, dimension and movement.

And good news to all our brides!! If you are thinking about getting hair extensions for your special day, let us know and we can order them for you at a special price or we can give you a special price code from our friends from Beyond the beauty Hair Extensions!  Let us know!

Your dreamed Asian Wedding in the Riviera Maya, Mexico.

People from all over the world choose  Playa del Carmen & Tulum for their Riviera Maya destination wedding. Recently, we’ve had the honor to take care of a few beautiful Asian-American brides! And we loved every minute!!

Bebe_Colin_1770 (1280x853)

Learning about the different traditions has been an unforgettable experience!

Did you know that in the Chinese wedding ceremony the color “red” is the color for luck and joy? Red can be integrated into the wedding using: a red attire, linens, floral, seat cushions and party favors. The dress can be as traditional or as modern as the bride wants!. Just look at Vivian’s modern and gorgeous red dress!vivianPhoto by: Hideki- Buttonup Photography

or Bebe’s more traditional and glamorous gown!

Most Asian brides change from the traditional red attire for the tea ceremony to the more westernized white dress for the wedding (sometimes the other way around).  Our brides usually ask us to stay for touch ups between ceremonies!, and we love it!!! We love helping them change, touch up their makeup and sometimes even change the hairdo a little, just to feel fresh and have a different look for the pics!

If you thought Asian weddings are super fun, vibrant & colorful…. wait till we tell you about the trash the dress photo-shootings!!! The red dress underwater in the Mayan cenotes, is just mind blowing! What do you think?

Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue…with a twist

Angie-Jim_0013(pp_w890_h593)Photo by: Quetzal Studio

We have all heard the saying of something old, something new, something borrowed and something new. But what does it all mean?

Well, it comes from an Old English rhyme, and they are tokens of good luck that your family and friends will give to you on the big day. But hey, now that you are getting married in the beautiful Riviera Maya in the Mexican Caribbean, why don’t we continue with the tradition and give it a little twist… so we had some ideas on what some items that would be perfect for a destination wedding and also check the traditional requirements! .

Something Old-

Something old represents continuity.

Is there somthing your grandma gave you when you were little?, remeber those photo locklets that grandmas used to have? And even more perfect if it has a picture of grandma! Or even better, if grandma is at the wedding!

Something new-

Represents optimism for the future.

Most brides something new is their wedding dress!, if you choose your something new to be the dress..this is awesome!, because after the wedding you can take it to the cenote or the beach and have alot of fun doing a trash the dress photoshoot!

Something borrowed-

Symbolizes happiness.

This is always a hard one. You could borrow a hair accessory from friends or family for your hair up-do, or borrow your mom’s jewelry…this is always a good one!

sofisticate up do

Something blue –

Represent purity, love, and fidelity.

Well this one was the easiest of them all, with the gorgeous turquoise blue ocean from the Riviera Maya as your background we are sure your marriage will be filled with love! And since we are in México, why not making a specialty blue cocktail with blue agave Tequila for your guests, nothing can go wrong with this …right?

Or if you would like to play it safe, you could let the groom help you out with this one… he could wear a blue suit for the perfect beach wedding!

1-    What’s your name and where do you come from ?

My name is Manuel Cappellari and I moved here from Argentina 8 years ago with my family; my wife and two little boys. Some know me as Manu, and others as Viejo Lobo, it’s a words game.

2-    Where did you study photography and how long have you been a photographer ?

I’m a self-taught photographer. I’m very curious, I read everything I can find and ask a lot of questions. Although I had an unique school in Tulum. In the beginning, I was fortunate to work as a producer assistant for a fashion production company based in Tulum, Cocoshoot Productions, with clients like Victoria Secret, Vogue, Elle, big ones! The photographers were incredible, the TOP models are amazing, so many people to do one pic? I couldn’t believe it. But then I learned that the photography was just another part of the work.

3-    How long have you been working in the Riviera Maya and why did you decide to work in this destination ?

I started working for the destination before moving here. We were collaborating from our advertising agency in Argentina with a local project in Tulum, a magazine called Republica. That’s how we learned that some dreams may come true and that we could try living in the Caribbean. We can’t be thankful enough!

4-    How long have you been a wedding photographer and Why did you choose to shoot weddings?

Although I started shooting weddings by accident, right away I discovered that it was the most full-filling for me. In fashion all is beautiful and very profesional, but very technical as well, nothing is spontaneous. In a wedding instead, everything is unique: the Yes I Do, the first kiss, the hugs, the first dance. That’s what makes wedding photos so important, they will last for ever. It’s the beginning of a family. Wow!

5-    How would you describe your wedding-photography style?

Relaxed and real, that’s the idea. No fake, please. If I could make myself invisible, it’d be perfect. I try not to interfere with what is happening so I can get the real feel. Of course we always have the portrait session with the couple and all the family, but most of the time I’m surrounding the couple and trying to get all the little moments.

6-    Are you working alone or with a team ?

We are a team running the business, but I’m the eye behind the camera and the editor of my photos and videos. I think of it as an art, but I had to learn how to delegate a little, emails and the administration mostly.

16667942_10210385104576872_501000251_oPhoto by Manuel Cappellari

7-   What is your best wedding shoot memory ?

My first wedding. I do remember getting to the beach, and the view of the palm trees and the pelicans and all the place dressed up, like a dream… it was a bit shocking! And then I understood what a Destination Wedding was about.

8-  Which word would you use to describe your job?

Feelings.

9- What is the best advice you could tell to the brides and Groom who are reading this interview for their wedding day?

Listen to your wedding planner, be yourself, and enjoy the moment. Be careful with Pinterest, the boards can look beautiful but many of them have editorial purposes and are not real weddings.

The hottest 2017 trends for a beach wedding!

Bridal fashion week 2017 presented some very interesting hair and makeup trends for this season, from pink eye-shadow and matching lips to shimmery cheeks. However, when talking about trends we have to keep in mind that the Riviera Maya has a tropical climate, most ceremonies are at the beach, its a very humid weather;  so we have to pick the trends that work well in this setting. So lets talk about some of the wedding trends that we are very excited about and how these trends have been used in our local Tulum weddings!

 Strobing

We are really excited about a makeup technique called “strobing”. Strobing is the new contouring; is all about getting the perfect glow, using highlighter in a way that catches the light in the right places (cheek bones, nose bridge, etc). It looks fabulous in pictures!

Greenery

Believe it or not, the biggest floral trend for 2017 is no flowers at all! Instead, brides are choosing simple arrangements of leaves, branches or palms, inserting lots of greenery with minimalist vibes.

Ruffled - photo by http//arinabphotography.com/ - http://ruffledblog.com/greenery-filled-wedding-ideas/

This is also true for the flower crowns and bouquets, and here are some examples on how the brides are rocking these trends right on the beach!

Greenery crowns

If you were dreaming of that boho-chic wedding and you pictured yourself wearing a flower crown, well we have good news for you! Crowns are still in fashion this season, and they are even better! Adding a punch of green and a couple colorful flowers it just turned out to be a perfect trend that you can rock in your beach wedding!

Bouquets & decorations

Talking about adding this splashes of green to the wedding, this year the trend is to replace the flowers in your bouquets and in the general decorations with just beautiful leafs and foliage. We wanted to show you how beautiful these green decorations look with the turquoise Caribbean ocean as a background!

The wedding day essentials no bride should be without!

images-1

We truly hope you don’t have any beauty emergency on your wedding day, however the key to avoid them is to be prepared. It’s super important to have handy those items that could save the day, so before you come down to the Riviera Maya, México for your destination wedding, we would recommend you to stop by your local pharmacy and grab some of these travel size beauty essentials:

Beauty essentials:

Your favorite lipstick or lip-gloss: for touch ups through out the day!

Breath mints: It sure will be nice for your first kiss as a married woman to be sweet and fresh!

Nail polish : Always ready for the ring/ bouquet picture!

Tissues: happy tears, no problema!

Hair bits and bobs: Ask your professional hair dresser to provide you with a few bobby pins and hair bands before she leaves, so you can fix and tweak your hair or even attach your wedding veil.

Comb or brush and small mirror: to keep your hair do under control.

Hair spray: with the tropics humid weather, it’s always a good idea to have some hair spray to make sure your do stays put!

And the essentials for your general beach wedding travel kit:

You might also want to bring these with you to the reception: deodorant, bug spray and sun- screen, after all you are in a tropical country having an amazing beach wedding, but lets face it it might be hot and humid, with the probability of mosquitoes and sun burns. And maybe include some first aid basics like pain reliever or aspirin and band aids.

For any wardrobe emergencies, don’t forget: Super glue (to fix any shoe, or hair accessory)  , stain remover, and the sewing kit!

bridalkit

Also, if you are having a trash the dress (specially during the winter months), make sure you bring with you a towel, change of clothes, a thermos or a mug with hot chocolate or coffee, and a chocolate bar for the breaks in between shots, cause the water can get very cold!!!

imagesPass the list to one of your bridesmaids and put her in charge of the emergency kit, you guys can buy a cute make-up bag, a tote bag or a little box for these items, stash it in a safe but easy-to-access place during the ceremony and just feel relax, cause you know you are ready for almost anything!

If we missed any ¨must have ítems¨, send us a comment and let us know your experience and how you handled the situation!
