What is Microblading?

It’s a form of semi-permanent tattooing that involves using tiny, fine-point needles (instead of a tattoo gun) that make up a small disposable blade and handle (a very weird looking tool, right?) that helps scratch and deposit the pigment under your skin evenly and simultaneously.Unlike the tatoo gun,  there’s many shapes and sizes of the microblading needles, which allows the artist to create your dreamed brow shape!

(The holder might vary, this pic is just to give you an idea of the type of needles used for the process)

Is microblading for me?

Yes, definitely! Microblading is customizable and it’s for everyone, from girls with zero brows, blonde ultra-faint brows, or girls who just need a little help filling the arches. However, you do need to find a microblading artist who has enough experience and can create different styles, shapes and match your eyebrow color.

How do I find the right artist for me?

Ask them to see their portfolio (it can be their FB or Instagram account), make sure they have pictures of various brow shapes and colors, that the color match, and of course… read the clients reviews.

Does it hurts? How long it takes to heal?

Before you get to the Riviera Maya and if you are thinking about getting your brows done hera a couple of details you need to know. Microblading is a lengthy process, you need to let your brows peal, heal, geat the correct shade and then do a touch up. So if you are thinking about getting it done before the big day, allow at least  4 months before the big day  and allow the hole process to take place.

Well, to be honest it does hurts a little bit. After all, you had needles going through your skin to deposit ink pigments under your brow tissue. So it’s a little bit like a more sophisticated tattoo. So you will need to follow the after care instructions your artist indicates, a bit like a tatto…applying creams and letting your skin peal a little after it reveals the beautiful outcome. Although you will see the final outcome once the session is done, a couple of days later you will experience a bit of pealing off and a tiny bit of discomfort.  Here’s a great inforgaphic from SumanBrows London, on what to expect after you get your brows done.

How long it takes & how long it lasts?

It takes about two hours, but what take the longest is the numbing cream they use before they go ahead with the microblading.  It lasts around one to three years, but a couple months after you get it done you will need to go for a touch up in order to finalize the pigmentation. After that, you might need a touch up after 12 months or more.

What are the derma rollers!?

The Chinese derma rollers made of jade – or other gemstones like rose quartz are basically a stone roller (same principle as a paint roller) but small and with a gemstone. This product has taken the beauty market by a storm. And there’s must be a reason why influencers all over the world are recommending the use of these devices and massaging your face. But how do they work!? And, do they really work!?

The science behind…

Dermatologist Melissa Kannchanapoomi mentioned in Marie Claire’s interview says: “Jade facial rollers have been used to massage the skin since the 17th century in China, jade rolling can increase blood circulation, which, in turn, can temporarily give you a brighter flush”. Other dermatologists on the same interview also mentioned that they are not a magic wand, that rollers will not get rid of skin conditions….however they do acknowledge that “rolling a cold stone on your face can be relaxing, which, in turn, can indirectly improve stress-linked skin conditions, such as rosacea and acne.”  But don’t get discouraged, even though they don’t do magic… in the end, it’s all about how it makes you feel. We believe this could be a great tool for the day before the wedding, a nice and relaxing facial massage would do miracles for your skin.
